The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has collaborated with the Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation (OFCF) of Japan in carrying out surveys and studies on trochus and its related species the green snail, to assess the feasibilty of culturing these animals.
The objective is to use aquaculture to assist in restocking reef areas where stocks have been depleted.
