nuse_tupe_b1The WorldFish Center Nuse Tupe station, is focused on research on fisheries and aquatic resources valuable to subsistence livelihood and commercial economies of Pacific Island countries. Collaborative research is implemented with regional agencies, scientific institutions, national governments, local communities, NGOs and development agencies.

Aquaculture research at the Nuse Tupe station is currently targeting pearl farming techniques and ranching of fish and invertebrate larvae using traps. The Nuse Tupe station also maintains a large population of giant clam broodstock of various species including Tridacna derasa, T gigas and Hippopus hippopus. The station has a small analyatical laboratory and is expanding its hatchery facilities.
