  • Giant clam

    palau_clam2_b1The Palau Mariculture Demostration Center (PMDC) was one of the pioneering institutions to develope giant clam aquaculture techniques.

    Giant clam species cultured at PMDC include Tridacna crocea, T. derasa, T. gigas, T. maxima, T. squamosa, Hippopus hippopos and H. porcellanus.

    Reseeding programs, mostly with cultured T. derasa are being done sporadically in response to the request of state government interests.
