    samoa_tilapia_b1Fisheries department are restocking the main freshwater eustaries in Savaii Island with Nile tilapia. The fish is harvested for subsistence use with some small sales at a price agreed to by the neighbouring villages.

    There is a will to develop tilapia feed in Samoa using locally available material. Mono sex culture as well as suitable farming practices must be investigated in Samoa.
